Best rave and EDM ticket apps (2026)
Disclosure: PartyJunky has applied to the affiliate programs of some ticket sites. Today it earns no commission from any site on this page. Commission will never change our method or the order of a table.
Quick answer
- We do not rank EDM ticket apps yet. 30% of the score is the measured fee rate and 20% is how many club and rave venues use each app. We have measured neither.
- 7 apps compared: DICE, Eventbrite, Posh, Resident Advisor, Shotgun, Ticketmaster and Tixr. On most of them, the event organizer sets the refund rule.
- DICE, Shotgun and Resident Advisor run fan-to-fan resale or waiting lists for sold-out shows. Ticketmaster has a Face Value Exchange for eligible tickets.
- iOS ratings range from 4.79 (Ticketmaster) to 4.91 (Shotgun). On Google Play, Ticketmaster and Tixr show 2.5 stars.
Ranking status: Scores are not published yet. The fee study (30% of the primary ticketer score) and our venue ticketer census (20%) start when we have price data from ticket-site partner feeds. The table compares verified policies today.

Club nights, raves and EDM shows often sell on one app only. The promoter or venue picks it. So the “best” app is often the one your event uses. Still, the apps differ in how they show fees, who sets refunds, and how you can resell. This page compares 7 apps on verified facts. We read every help page, policy page and app store page on Oct 20, 2026.
Why there is no score yet
Our score for primary ticketers gives 30% to the measured fee rate and 20% to reach: how many club and rave venues sell through each app. We have measured neither. A small test shows why reach matters. On Oct 20, 2026 we checked 14 reachable US club home pages. DICE was the ticket vendor on 3, Tixr on 2, Eventbrite on 2, and Etix, Shotgun and Ticketmaster on 1 each. 5 showed no vendor. That sample is too small to score, so we publish no rank.
How each app handles fees
- DICE shows one price on its event pages, labeled “The price you’ll pay.”
- Ticketmaster shows an “All In Price” that includes fees. Local taxes and selected delivery fees may be added at checkout.
- Eventbrite lets organizers pass the ticketing fee to the buyer or include it in the ticket price.
- Posh says its fees are non-refundable, with exceptions for some cancelled events and events postponed more than 6 months.
- Shotgun says its service fees are non-refundable as a rule.
- Resident Advisor says booking fees are not refundable.
- Tixr: we did not find a fee statement in the pages we read.
The FTC fees rule applies to all US live-event ticket sellers since May 12, 2025. It requires the total price with mandatory fees whenever a price is shown.
Refunds: the organizer usually decides
On Eventbrite, Tixr, Posh and Shotgun, the organizer sets the refund policy. Tixr says, “For most events, all sales are final.” Eventbrite says an organizer who cancels must refund all orders, and Eventbrite then refunds its fees too.
DICE states its own fan rule on event pages. You can get a refund within 24 hours of buying, or if the event is rescheduled or cancelled. You cannot get one within 24 hours of the start time. Full cancellations are refunded automatically.
Resident Advisor refunds only when an event is cancelled or moved, and only the face value. Ticketmaster says no action is needed for a refund of a cancelled event.
Transfer, resale and waiting lists
Sold-out club nights are where these apps differ most.
- DICE Waiting List. If you cannot go to a sold-out show, you add your ticket to the queue and another fan buys it. The organizer decides if the list is on, and tickets join only after the show sells out.
- RA resale. Tickets can change hands only through RA’s resale queue. The queue opens when every release of a ticket type sells out. Tickets resell at the final tier price, and the seller gets a refund minus a small fee.
- Shotgun resale. Resale works in the app only. The seller pays 15% of the order price, with a cap. For sold-out shows, resale tickets go to people on the waiting list.
- Tixr. Transfers are free when the organizer allows them. Tixr also has built-in resale for eligible events.
- Posh. You can transfer a ticket in the app. Posh says transferred tickets are non-refundable.
- Ticketmaster. You can transfer tickets between accounts. The Face Value Exchange lets fans resell eligible tickets for the price paid.
App ratings
On iOS, all 7 apps rate between 4.79 and 4.91 stars. The rating counts differ a lot: Shotgun has 1,631 ratings and Ticketmaster has 4,228,451. On Google Play, Eventbrite shows 4.9, Posh 4.8 and DICE 4.7. Ticketmaster and Tixr both show 2.5 stars, from 205K and 175 reviews. We did not find Google Play pages for Shotgun or the RA Guide app.
How to choose today
- Find the app your event uses. The event page or the venue site names the official seller. Buy there first.
- Read the refund line before you pay. On most of these apps, the organizer sets it per event.
- For sold-out shows, use the official queue. DICE, RA and Shotgun run waiting lists or resale queues. Ticketmaster has the Face Value Exchange.
- Avoid screenshots and off-app sellers. RA says its barcodes are issued only 24 hours before the event, so legitimate RA tickets cannot be sold on third-party marketplaces.
Not verified yet
- Regions where each app sells tickets. We confirmed US events only for DICE (a Brooklyn event page).
- Transfer rules on DICE and Eventbrite, and fees on Tixr.
- Google Play ratings for Shotgun and RA Guide.
- Any enforcement record. We have not searched FTC and state releases for 6 of these apps yet. For Ticketmaster: the FTC and 7 states sued Live Nation and Ticketmaster on Sep 18, 2025. The case is pending.

How we rank
PartyJunky ticket site score, Set B: primary ticketers (applied to EDM and club apps), version 1.0 (2026-10-20)
- Window
- Not started. Needs fee captures and our venue ticketer census.
- Data
- Our own checkout captures, a census of which ticketer sells for club, rave and festival venues in our data, policy pages, FTC and state records, app store pages
| Criterion | Weight | What we measure |
|---|---|---|
| Fee rate | 30% | (Total checkout price minus face value) / face value, median across sample events on that platform. |
| Refund, transfer and resale rules | 20% | Rubric: free transfer 2, resale allowed 2, face-value resale option 1, refund on cancellation 2, postponement policy 1. |
| Reach in the PartyJunky audience | 20% | Share of club, rave and EDM venues in our data that sell through the platform, from each venue's own site. |
| Checkout honesty | 10% | Total shown on the first price display (pass/fail), steps to the final total, count of pre-checked add-ons, fee lines named. |
| Enforcement record | 10% | Count of FTC, DOJ or state AG actions in the last 36 months, with links. |
| App rating | 5% | iOS and Android average, weighted by rating count. |
| Payment and delivery | 5% | Payment options count, mobile delivery, transfer to a friend. |
Same weights as the primary ticketer set on our best ticket sites page. For this page, the reach criterion counts club, rave and EDM venues only. Commission is not an input. In a 2026-10-20 test of 14 reachable US club home pages, DICE was the ticket vendor on 3, Tixr on 2, Eventbrite on 2, Etix, Shotgun and Ticketmaster on 1 each, and 5 showed none. That sample is too small to score reach.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best app for rave tickets?
We do not name one yet. The answer depends on which app your venue or promoter uses, because most club nights sell on one platform only. Our venue census will measure that. Until then, use the table to compare refund and resale rules.
Does DICE have hidden fees?
DICE event pages show one price labeled "The price you'll pay." We read this on a Brooklyn event page on Oct 20, 2026. We have not checked a DICE checkout total ourselves.
Can I get a refund on DICE?
DICE event pages say you can get a refund within 24 hours of buying, or if the event is rescheduled or cancelled. There is no refund within 24 hours of the start time. Full cancellations are refunded automatically.
How does the DICE waiting list work?
If you cannot go to a sold-out show, you add your ticket to the queue and another fan buys it. The organizer decides if the waiting list is on. Tickets join the list only after the show sells out.
Can I resell a Resident Advisor ticket?
Only through RA's resale queue, which the promoter turns on. Tickets go on sale after the event sells out, at the final tier price. You get a refund minus a small administrative fee when your ticket sells.
Are Posh and Shotgun fees refundable?
Usually not. Posh says its fees are non-refundable, except for some cancelled events and events postponed more than 6 months. Shotgun says that as a rule its service fees are non-refundable.
Can I transfer a Tixr ticket to a friend?
Tixr says you can transfer tickets at no cost when the organizer allows transfers. To sell a ticket, Tixr points you to its built-in resale, where the event allows it.
Does PartyJunky earn money from these apps?
Not today. Only our Ticketmaster affiliate application is in review. We have not applied to the other 6. Commission is not an input to the method.
